Types of Cases

18 Wheeler Accidents

Over 3,800 people in our country died in crashes with 18 wheelers in 2015.  An even larger number survived the crash, but were left with life-altering and/or catastrophic injuries coupled with staggering medical bills.

A legal challenge involving compensation in an 18 wheeler case is complex and challenging. An experienced attorney who understands how to proceed immediately is critical to a successful legal outcome. Questions a family or injured person should ask any prospective attorney include:

  • Have you actually tried an 18 wheeler case to jury verdict?
  • Do you have proven success in resolving 18 wheeler cases by settlement?
  • Do your credentials include being asked to educate other attorneys about 18 wheeler cases?

At Barrow Law we do not hesitate to answer these questions in the affirmative. Wade Barrow has tried multiple 18 wheeler cases to jury verdict. In 2013 a jury awarded his client the second highest settlement in the entire State of Texas according to Top Texas Verdicts & Settlements of 2013 published by Verdict Search.  The client was the victim of an 18 wheeler collision. Due to his recognized expertise in this area, Wade Barrow is frequently asked to speak at legal conferences to educate other lawyers about how to successfully handle 18 wheeler injury cases.

Car Accidents

According to recent studies, over 2,000,000 people are injured or killed in motor vehicle collisions annually in the United States. These victims face serious economic loss by incurring medical bills and lost time from work.  Insurance companies have aggressive systems in place to reduce the amount of compensation paid to victims.  The defense of your case begins with the first call of the insurance case when the adjuster asks to record the call.  Every passing second after that moment you do not have representation can be damaging to your case.

Having an experienced Board Certified Personal Injury attorney on your side is critical if you are to take on the insurance company and get the compensation you are owed.  Car wreck victims are entitled to compensation for their medical bills, including any future medical costs, lost wages, pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment and disfigurement.  Without legal representation for the victim,  the insurance company can exploit the person’s lack of knowledge of the legal system and minimize the amount paid for the claim.

Wade Barrow has helped many wreck victims get the compensation necessary to move on with their lives. His clients know that if a reasonable settlement offer is not received, he will fight hard for them in court. He has a successful litigation record to prove this.  Don’t let the insurance companies make you a victim twice.  Please contact us for a free, no obligation consultation with an actual Board Certified Personal Injury attorney to honestly answer questions about your case and determine how we can help you.

Wrongful Death

There is no greater tragedy than the senseless loss of life due to the carelessness of others.  Texas law gives certain legal rights to the family of loved ones killed by the negligence of others.  There are two distinct remedies when someone is killed due to negligence of others.

The first is the survival action, which is the claim on behalf of the estate of the deceased.  It includes the claims for conscious pain and suffering, funeral expenses, and medical expenses.  The second is the wrongful death action.  This is the claim of the surviving family members of the deceased.  In Texas, only certain family members are entitled to bring wrongful death claims.  Those family members include the spouse, parents and children of the deceased.  These family members can recover for their economic loss including loss of income and loss of inheritance, if applicable.  However, in wrongful death cases the most profound loss is often the non-economic loss.  In Texas family members of the deceased can seek compensation for loss of companionship and society and for the mental anguish associated with the loss of a loved one.

Our experience in representing families dealing with the death of a loved one caused by the negligence of others has resulted in successful jury verdicts and settlements to provide support for the families left behind.  Please contact us for a free, no obligation consultation with an actual Board Certified Personal Injury attorney to honestly answer questions about your case and determine how we can help you.

Insurance Claims

Anytime you make a claim against an insurance company you are taking on a complex corporate system with the goal of minimizing the value of your claim, or even denying it. Most people believe that as long as they only ask for what is reasonable, their insurance claim will be paid with little resistance.  Often people are disappointed when their claim is denied.

The Texas Insurance Code gives persons making claims against their own insurance company certain rights and protections. These include deadlines for the insurance company to respond to requests by the insured and a duty of good faith and fair dealing in negotiating the claim.  Hiring an attorney helps you make sure the insurance company is following the law in the handling of your claim.  Don’t assume that you have no option other than the one offered by the insurance company.  Please contact us for a free, no obligation consultation with an actual Board Certified attorney to honestly answer questions about your case and determine how we can help you.

Oil and Gas Accidents

Attorney Wade Barrow grew up in the East Texas oil patch trailing behind his grandfather and father in their oil field contracting business.  The oil and gas industry has brought enormous benefit to Texas over the last century.  These benefits, however, are made possible by dangerous work that can lead to serious injuries or even death to workers.  Workers compensation is not mandatory in Texas, and some companies do not carry coverage.  Others do carry the coverage, but the benefits are inadequate to fully compensate the injured victim and/or his family.

If you, or a loved one, suffer an injury or death while working in the oil and gas industry, please investigate whether or not you have a claim for the harm and losses you have suffered.  Your future will be greatly impacted by the decision that you make.   Please contact us for a free, no obligation consultation with an actual Board Certified Personal Injury attorney to honestly answer questions about your case and determine how we can best help you.

Slip and Fall

Premises liability is the body of Texas law that is commonly referred to as “slips, trips and falls.” Dangerous premises can lead to serious injuries.  A common misconception is that a property owner is automatically responsible for any injuries on the premises they own and that their insurance policy will cover it.  However, under Texas law a premises owner is only responsible for injuries caused by a dangerous condition on the property if the property owner knew, or should have known, about the dangerous condition and failed to make it safe or to warn people about it.

Proving that the premises owner “knew or should have known” about a dangerous condition is often challenging. Retaining an experienced Board Certified Personal Injury Attorney is critical if you are to make a successful case.   Don’t be victimized twice.   Please contact us for a free, no obligation consultation with an actual Board Certified Personal Injury attorney to honestly answer questions about your case and if you have a right to compensation for your losses.

Defective Products

Texas law gives rights to persons injured by defective products.  This body of law is often referred to as products liability.  Generally, products liability is broken into three categories: defective manufacturing (the product was not built properly), defective design (the product was dangerous because of a design flaw), and defective marketing (the product was dangerous because the warnings were inadequate or non-existent).  Defective products cases require extensive investigation and the assistance of scientists and engineers.  Attorney Wade Barrow has years of experience successfully representing people injured by defective products.

If you are injured, or a loved one is injured or killed, by a defective product you should investigate your rights to compensation for the harm and losses you have suffered. We have already done the research for you. Don’t allow your losses to be ignored. Please contact us for a free, no obligation consultation with an actual Board Certified Personal Injury attorney to honestly answer questions about your case and explain your legal rights.

Dog and Other Animal Attacks

Dogs may be man’s best friend, but when they attack, they are man’s worst nightmare.  Texas law holds dog owners responsible for attacks by domesticated animals they own.  When a dog attacks a person the owner is held “strictly liable” for the attack if the animal had previously shown “dangerous propensities.” Alternatively, a claim can be made against the dog owner for negligence in the handling of the animal.

Often dog attacks will be covered under the homeowner’s policy of the dog’s owner. Insurance adjusters will work to develop a scenario that exonerates the dog owner from liability.  However, with an attorney representing your interests, you can be in a position to get the compensation for your injuries to which you are entitled under Texas law.  Don’t let the insurance companies make you a victim twice.  Please contact us for a free, no obligation consultation with an actual Board Certified Personal Injury attorney to honestly answer questions about your case and if you have a right to compensation for your losses.

Traumatic Brain Injuries

Accident victims often suffer injuries to the head referred to as Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). Often Traumatic Brain Injuries are initially dismissed as mere concussions that will quickly heal. If the victim actually has a TBI, the family often notices the changes first. Symptoms such as headache, fatigue, difficulty sleeping, loss of balance, blurred vision, speech changes, ringing in the ears, sensitivity to light or sound, difficulty concentrating, depression, anxiety, and mood swings are associated with TBI and should be investigated immediately.

At Barrow Law we are experienced in the representation of clients who suffer Traumatic Brain injuries due to the negligence of others. Please contact us for a free, no obligation consultation with an actual Board Certified Personal Injury attorney to honestly answer questions about your case and determine how we can achieve justice for you.

Serious Personal Injuries

Accident victims often suffer serious personal injuries that cause medical bills to pile up and need for future medical care even after the case is over.  This financial loss is compounded by missed time from work, or in extreme cases, an inability to keep doing the same type of work.  In addition, the physical and emotional toll these events can take on the victim can be quite high.

At Barrow Law we are experienced in the representation of clients who suffer serious personal injuries due to the negligence of others. Please contact us for a free, no obligation consultation with an actual Board Certified Personal Injury attorney to honestly answer questions about your case and determine how we can achieve justice for you.

Sexual Assault/ Molestation

The long term effects of being a victim of sexual assault and/or molestation can be devastating.  Often the attack can leave the victim feeling powerless.  However, the civil justice system provides a way for victims to strike back at their attacker and achieve compensation.  Victims of sexual assault are entitled to damages to compensate for the pain they have endured and potentially for punitive damages.

If you’ve been a victim of a sexual assault/molestation, take your power back. No one has a right to enter into a relationship with you without your informed consent. This includes not revealing sexually transmitted diseases even if the relationship is consensual. All consultations are confidential.

Bicycling Accidents

Many Texans enjoy bicycling as a way to get exercise and stay active.  Others use their bicycles as their primary form of transportation.  Texas law protects bicyclists who are injured in collisions with negligent motorists.  Not surprisingly, when a bicyclist is struck by a car, the injuries can be catastrophic.

Motorists and their insurance companies often blame the bicyclist for causing the collision.  However, having a Board Certified Personal Injury Attorney on your side can help you fight back.  Don’t allow the insurance companies to determine the extent of your losses. They are not paid to protect you. Please contact us for a free, no obligation consultation with an actual Board Certified Personal Injury attorney to honestly answer questions about your case and determine how we can help you move forward.

Motorcycle accidents

The wide open spaces of Texas make it a favorite locale for motorcycle riders from around the world. When motorcyclists collide with automobiles the consequences can be devastating. Public sentiment is often biased against motorcyclists and is quick to assign blame to them when an accident occurs. However, research confirms that in collisions between a motorcycle and an automobile, it is more often the automobile driver’s fault. (Sun-Sentinel, March 9, 2013, “Car Drivers Cause Most Crashes with Motorcycles, Study Finds.”)  At Barrow Law we fight the bias against motorcycles and fight for our clients.

When an insurance company blames the motorcyclist for causing the collision, having a Board Certified Personal Injury Attorney on your side can help you fight back.  Don’t let the insurance company make you a victim twice.  Please contact us for a free, no obligation consultation with an actual Board Certified Personal Injury attorney to honestly answer questions about your case and determine how we can help you.
